Get ready for Grants in Action coming this fall!

The Women’s Fund is busy planning some wonderful opportunities for you to learn more about our grantees and the important issues they address in our community. It is an expanded approach to our annual fall Site Visits—going to our grantee locations to see our dollars at work—which has been a popular educational benefit to Women’s Fund membership since 2004.

Still, we’re always looking to improve.

Following last fall’s Site Visit Kick-Off at a local hotel, we received feedback from members asking us to replace that large, increasingly expensive event with alternatives that provide more information about the grantees and the communities they serve. After many meetings and two focus groups, we have a plan. We're calling it Grants in Action (GIA for short).

Grants in Action is a two-pronged approach created to give our members what they want:

  1. Classic SITE VISITS to some grantee locations
  2. EDUCATIONAL FORUMS grouping together in one place those grantees that address similar community issues. More members will be able attend the forums and receive in-depth information about these topics.

The July newsletter will provide specific dates and locations for the fall Grants in Action program. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please contact us.

Videos Illustrate Impact of the Women’s Fund

At this year's Celebration of Grants, we introduced two new videos revealing the power of collective giving.

Click here for an eight-minute video to learn what your contributions have done for these past grantees Academy for Success, Angels Foster Care and Doctors Without Walls–Santa Barbara Street Medicine. Click here for a two-minute take on why fellow members love the Women’s Fund.

These powerful videos communicate our story to members, potential members, sponsors and others. Please take a look and share with your friends and families.

As we say in the video, “Since its founding in 2004, the Women’s Fund has donated more than $7.2 million to local nonprofits, helping nearly 100,000 women, children and families. For 15 years, we’ve been Changing Lives Together. What an amazing record to build upon.”

Membership Corner

Since celebrating our nine new grantees on May 1, the Membership Committee has been busy welcoming new members and encouraging current members to renew.

Membership renewals for 2019 are well underway. In fact, three groups* have completed their 2019 renewals, and a total of seven groups have already reached or surpassed the $2,750 threshold to vote on next year’s ballot! Congratulations to these seven groups and their hard-working captains: D'Penguineer Friends*, Get Focused*, Giving Back SB*, Philanthropy Made Simple, Six + Strong Women, Take Five and TLC.

Renewing early makes a difference to the Women’s Fund:

  • It helps the Research Committee anticipate the size of the next grants pool.
  • It helps Women’s Fund volunteers avoid the year-end avalanche of renewals.
  • It means you won’t be getting renewal reminders!
  • We earn interest on our dollars throughout the year.

It’s easy to join or renew. Just click here.
