In a remarkable demonstration of collective giving, the Women’s Fund of Santa Barbara made history by awarding an unprecedented $1.125 million in grants to local nonprofits last week. More than 500 members, guests, sponsors, and community supporters gathered at the iconic Lobero Theatre to hear the announcement of 10 transformative grants. The Celebration of Grants commemorated our 20th anniversary and our achievement of granting $11.6 million to local nonprofits since our beginning in 2004. The grants were funded by combining the donations that our 1,300 members contributed in 2024. If you missed the event, catch up on photos here. As she welcomed attendees, Jamie Dufek, Board Chair, said “Twenty years ago, the Women’s Fund was founded on the simple idea – that women could have a significant impact on our community if we pooled our philanthropic donations. Today, we are honored to have three of the original 12 founders present – Joanne Rapp, Anne Towbes, and Peri Harcourt.” |
