Both the Research and Oversight Committees have had first meetings and are underway to make 2008 a great year for the Fund. A teen-led family helped by CALM's Great Beginnings Program. These faces make my day! Making Smart Funding Decisions Deciding where to invest philanthropic dollars is a tough call. • What are the most critical community needs today? • What are the most important questions to ask a nonprofit seeking funds? • How do you determine the amount to give an agency? • How do you measure success? The Research Committee will present a panel discussion for Fund members on Thursday, April 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Santa Barbara Foundation where the experts will tell us how they do it. Panelists include: Catherine Brozowski, Vice President-Programs Santa Barbara Foundation; Jon Clark, Executive Director James S. Bower Foundation, Pam Hamlin, Executive Director Hutton Foundation, and Lois Mitchell, President Orfalea Foundations. Admission is free. Watch for a postcard invitation to be mailed the first week in March. |
