On May 20, at the iconic Lobero Theatre, over 1,400 local women—a passionate collective—came together to channel a record-breaking $1.25 million in grants to 11 local nonprofits serving women, children, and families in south Santa Barbara County. Founded in 2004, the Women’s Fund reshaped how local philanthropy works—not through galas or auctions, but through intentional, collaborative giving. As a volunteer-led giving circle, it invites members to each contribute, research community needs, vote on impactful projects, and ensure accountability through grant reporting.
Thanks to low overhead—where a remarkable 94 cents of every dollar goes directly to grants—every contribution becomes a transformative act.
The 2024–2025 grants didn’t just deliver money—they delivered momentum. Funded initiatives now expand childcare licensing for underserved communities, enhance emergency shelter security, launch transitional housing for youth exiting foster care, and expand critical services like vision care, hygiene access, mental health support, and nutritious meals.
