Susan joined the Women’s Fund in 2022 after moving to Santa Barbara from Orcas Island. She grew up in Pacific Palisades and graduated from Pitzer College and holds an MA in English and America Literature from Claremont Graduate School. Susan worked as Associate Dean of Admissions and Development for Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, but made her home on Balboa Island, making her a very early “remote worker.” Following her marriage, she relocated to Seattle, Washington where she worked in Fund Development, primarily for organizations serving women and children. She retired as Development Director of Treehouse, an organization serving all foster children in Seattle, and King County. Susan was a founding member of the Washington Women’s Foundation, serving as President of the Seattle Junior League as well as numerous nonprofit boards and commissions. She was honored to attend a White House Conference on Children’s Health, and has very much enjoyed all of her advocacy on behalf of children, both in her state capitol, and in “the other Washington.” Since moving to Santa Barbara Susan has become a Member of the Assistance League, Junior League of Santa Barbara Sustainers, and Newcomers Club in addition to the Women’s Fund.
