CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is a nonprofit organization that provides vital support and advocacy for over 500 abandoned, abused, or neglected children within Santa Barbara County’s Foster Care system. Their mission is driven by the unwavering dedication of highly trained volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure that these vulnerable children have safe, permanent, and nurturing homes. Their motto, “CASA volunteers Show Up, Stand Up, and Speak Up,” captures the essence of their commitment to advocating for the best interests of the children they mentor.
The Women's Fund provided a 2024-25 grant to CASA to pay for new equipment, a data management system upgrade, and half of the salary and benefits for a new, full-time data management specialist. In April, Women's Fund members attended a powerful exhibit, “From Trauma to Hope – Stories of Foster Care” showcasing art, graphic designs, and written works by young artists who share their personal narratives of growing up in foster care in Santa Barbara County. This exhibit will featured several artists discussing their work and offering unique insights into their experiences.
