Biography

Kathy has been a member of the Women’s Fund since 2015, joining the Finance Committee in 2019. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Montclair State University and a master’s degree from Stanford. Kathy began her career as a CPA with Ernst & Young, specializing in corporate tax and financial accounting for income taxes. She became a partner in the San Jose office in 1989. She has also managed her own corporate financial and tax consulting practice. Kathy has been active in volunteer work for over 20 years; she has served on the boards of the Catholic Foundation of Santa Clara County, Summit League, San Jose Repertory Theatre and Archbishop Mitty High School. She and her husband split their time between Santa Barbara and Saratoga.

Biography

Kathy became a member of the Women's Fund in 2022 and recently joined the Finance Committee. She holds a bachelor's degree from UC Santa Barbara and a master's degree from UC Berkley. She grew up in North Carolina and has lived in Santa Barbara since 1963. She worked briefly for the IRS before starting her career as a CPA in 1976 with Deloitte Touche. She started her own tax practice in 1988 and recently is semi -retired and is looking forward to spending more time with family and volunteering in the many non-profits in Santa Barbara.

Biography

Laurie has been a member of the Women's Fund since 2008. She has previously served as Research Committee Co-Chair, Grantee Liaison, and Steering Committee chair. From 2018 to 2020, she was Board Chair of the newly incorporated Women’s Fund. Currently, she chairs the Information Technology committee and continues to serve on the Board of Directors. After earning a B.A. from University of Illinois, Laurie pursued a career in financial services and in 1982 she founded her own financial research company. She was a member of several nonprofit boards across the country focused on the welfare of families and children. Since moving to Santa Barbara in 2000, she has chaired the Newcomers Club community service committee, lead the United Way's "Lunch Bunch" program, and served as a board member and interim Executive Director of the Nonprofit Support Center. She has also served on the Ensemble Theatre, Social Venture Partners and Transition House boards.

Biography

Linda has been a member of the Women’s Fund since 2011 and joined the Finance Committee in 2018. She has been a credit professional in commercial and private banking for over thirty years with Bank of America and Wells Fargo, before retiring in 2015. Linda grew up in Philadelphia and Torrance and holds a bachelor’s from UCLA and a master’s from CSU Fresno. Since moving to Santa Barbara in 2001, she has enjoyed volunteering with several non-profits, and is presently active with the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and the local chapter of the Ninety-Nines, Inc., International Organization of Women Pilots.

Biography

LuAnn joined the Women’s Fund in 2008, and is a member of the Finance committee. She grew up in Ojai and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences as well as Single Subject and Multiple Subjects teaching credentials from Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo. She moved to Goleta in 1979, teaching kindergarten, 4th grade and preschool before becoming the Executive Director of Isla Vista Youth Projects. She has served in various nonprofit leadership roles in Santa Barbara, including Co-Chair of the Santa Barbara County Child Care Planning Council, Co-Chair of the Network of Family Resource Centers, Special Events Chair for the local chapter of the Association for the Education of Young Children, and the Nonprofit Representative to the Executive Committee for the KIDS Network. Recently retired after 33 years at the helm of Isla Vista Youth Projects, she is enjoying more time to travel and volunteer in the community.

 

Melissa Gough

Biography

Melissa Gough has been a member of the Women's Fund since 2008, when she joined the Research Committee. For the past five years she has served as Finance Chair and Chair of the Endowment Committee, and currently is Corporate Secretary as well as Endowment Chair. In her professional life, Melissa is Director of Development for the Division of Economics and Social Sciences at UCSB. In her role, she supports departmental initiatives and student development programs focusing on Feminist Studies, Global Studies and Anthropology and coordinates all departmental Planned Giving opportunities.  Prior to UCSB, Melissa held various regional leadership positions in Banking, Financial Management and Estate Planning, working with Union Bank, Morgan Stanley Private Bank, First Republic Bank and Bank of America. Melissa is a graduate of the Cornell University Leadership Management program and holds a bachelor's degree in Organizational Psychology from UCSB. A 40+ year resident of Santa Barbara, she serves on the Board of the United Boys and Girls Club of Santa Barbara County and is Finance Chair and Treasurer for La Cumbre Country Club. She is a recipient of the Founder's Award for the Police Activities League and the Navy Leaguer of the Year award from the Navy League of the United States. Melissa enjoys food, wine and golf and is a member of the Santa Barbara Wine and Food Society, the International Food and Wine Society and La Cumbre Country Club.

Biography

Michelle is a Wealth Management Advisor with Merrill and assists clients with strategies to bring purpose to their wealth. Michelle is inspired by the people and businesses who bring vibrance, leadership and connectivity to our daily lives. She holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification with a focus on retirement planning and philanthropic giving. Michelle is a graduate of UCSB and received her M.B.A. from Pepperdine University. She joined the Women's Fund in 2019 and the Finance Committee in 2024. She resides in Carpinteria with her husband and their children. She serves on the board of Carpinteria Children’s Project and volunteers as an age-group swim coach for the Carpinteria Aquatics Club.

Biography

Nancy became a member of the Women’s Fund and joined the Finance Committee in 2024. After earning a bachelor’s degree in Internationtal Studies at Lafayette College, she completed the MBA program at the University of Pittsburgh and embarked on a career in financial services. Nancy spent over 33 years in the investment field, managing equity funds at Delaware Investments and at Nuveen Investments where she also led investment teams as Chief Investment Officer. She currently serves as an independent director of the M Funds. She served as a director and treasurer for Women’s Economic Ventures from 2016 until 2023 and continues to volunteer as a member of their endowment committee. Nancy previously served as a member of the endowment committee for Project Home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
