Biography

With over 35 years of experience in investment and portfolio management, Angelica is a Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Investment Counselor. Most recently Angelica served as Chief Investment Officer for the Ralph M. Parsons Foundation. She was an Investment Consultant at the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens, and previous to that position she was Senior Vice President/Portfolio Manager for Provident Investment Counsel and Vice President/Portfolio Manager for Philip V. Swan Associates, Investment Counsel. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Angelica is currently a member of the Scripps College Board of Trustees where she is Chairman of the Investment Committee. She was a member of University of California Berkeley Parent Board, has served as a Board member on the Pasadena Independent Schools Foundation, as a member of the Investment Committee for the Polytechnic School, and as Vice Chair of the Board, Chairman of the Development Committee and Member of the Executive and Finance Committees for the Pacific Oaks College and Children’s School Board of Trustees. Angelica received her B.A. degree in Economics and Political Science from Scripps College. She splits her time between Santa Barbara and Pasadena.

Annette Vait

Biography

Annette grew up in Northern California and graduated from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. After college she moved to Los Angeles and began her career as a CPA at Price Waterhouse in their Entertainment Special Practice. Thereafter, Annette worked in film production and as a producer, flipped residential properties, and founded a restaurant venture. She moved to Santa Barbra in 2021 and currently sells real estate with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services. Annette lives in and loves the Downtown Santa Barbara Community, is a pickleball fanatic, and enjoys hiking, beach yoga, and just strolling down State Street. Since moving to Santa Barbara Annette has been a board member of SB Newcomers, a volunteer at the Friendship Center, at Hillside House, and a member of the Women’s Fund since 2022. Annette is thrilled to be part of an organization comprised of so many smart, interesting, open-hearted women.

Barbara Hauter Woodward

Biography

Barbara has been a member of the Women's Fund since 2008. After graduating from college, she lived for ten years in Milan and London. Returning to Princeton, New Jersey, she worked in commercial real estate, finishing her career as a consultant to start-up biotechnology companies and a founding member of the New Jersey Bioscience Association. After moving to Santa Barbara in 1994, Barbara continued her interest in real estate by serving as vice president on the boards of the Hope Ranch Homeowner's Association and SURF Development Company. SURF is the affordable housing development arm of Santa Barbara County's Housing Authority, whose mission is to provide housing to low income, elderly, and handicapped people. She has served on the Research, Membership, and Volunteer Engagement Committees.

Denise Hinkle

Biography

Denise has been a member of the Women’s Fund since 2009. Her career as a development professional spanned more than three decades and a variety of causes, from public television and education to family planning and the environment. A resident of the Santa Barbara area since 1986, she has served as Vice President for Development for Planned Parenthood, Channel Islands YMCA, Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, and more recently as Development and Communications Director for Storyteller Children’s Center and Family Service Agency. She has been a member of the Women’s Fund Membership Committee and currently serves as Grantee Liaison and member of the Communications Committee. Denise holds a MBA from Northern Michigan University and bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in marketing from Western Michigan University. She lives with her husband in Mission Canyon.

Kathryn Dinkin

Biography

Kathryn has lived in Santa Barbara for over 30 years and has worked with several nonprofits during that time: from the Arthritis Foundation to Legal Aid, from the Santa Barbara Bar Association to the board of WEV. She was on the Transition House Board of Directors for 10 years and served on the SB Women's Commission for several years, one year as President. She has one daughter. Her husband is a partner at the Stradling Law Firm. She loves Santa Barbara and is proud that we have so many wonderful nonprofit organizations in our community.

Lynn Karlson

Biography

Lynn rejoined the Women’s Fund in 2018, participating with both the Membership Committee and a Special Projects workgroup. She grew up in Colorado and has a Master’s Degree in Agricultural and Resource Economics from Colorado State University. Before moving to Santa Barbara in 1989, she worked in both the Research and Public Affairs Departments of the Kansas City Federal Reserve. She has served in various nonprofit leadership roles in Santa Barbara, including as Board Chair for the Channel Islands YMCA, the Nonprofit Support Center, and The Arts Fund. She was the Vice President for Family Education Services at Independent Means Inc. before taking on the role of Executive Director for the Youth and Family Services YMCA from 2008-2016.

Sarah de Tagyos

Biography

Sarah has been a member of the Women's Fund since 2005. She grew up in Iowa and graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in journalism. During her 30-year career at AT&T, she served as President of the AT&T Foundation—the company's philanthropic arm—and as Chief Operating Officer for AT&T's 300-person global public relations division. She served on national nonprofit boards including the Advertising Council and the Council on Foundations. Since retiring and moving to Santa Barbara in 2000, Sarah has chaired several Women’s Fund committees: Research, Communications, Membership, Grantee Liaison as well as serving as the Chair of the Steering Committee for more than two years. She was a docent at the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden and is a sustainer of the Assistance League of Santa Barbara where she served on the board and headed several committees. In 2010, the Junior League of Santa Barbara named her their Woman of the Year.

Suzi Schomer

Biography

Suzi has over 40 years of experience in financial services with expertise in trust and investment management and private banking in Texas, Oregon and California. She is currently a Senior Vice President and Wealth Strategist for Montecito Bank & Trust Wealth Management.  Suzi has lived in Santa Barbara for nearly 30 years and has been an active volunteer as a board member or chair of  nonprofit organizations including the Foundation for SBCC, the Wildling Museum, the Maritime Museum and VNA Health.  In addition, she served as Foreman of the Santa Barbara County Grand Jury 2012-13 and as a Trustee of the Santa Barbara County Employees’ Retirement System 2016-17.  A former member of the Women’s Fund Research Committee, Suzi has also served on the Women’s Fund Finance Committee for the past several years.
