To get to know this group better, we asked Co-Captains Dale Hromadka and Julie Franke some questions:
Why did you join the Women’s Fund? The emphasis is on women and children and in addition, it is a wonderful way to learn more about Santa Barbara.
What inspired you to create your group? We wanted a small group of like-minded people so that everyone could feel involved.
What is the significance of your group name—Earth Angels? We are all old enough to remember all the words.
How many group members do you have? 15
How often do you meet or do you plan to meet? Since we are a new group, we have only had one meet and greet but we intend to meet quarterly. We’re talking about planning our next meeting at Zodo’s—the bowling alley—you can bowl, eat, drink or none of the above.
How will your annual voting process work? We will get together and discuss all the options, sharing what we learned at the Group Captain’s ballot meeting.
What is the one thing you would like people to know about your group? We are a like- minded group, but our backgrounds, as far as where we grew up, jobs, life experiences, and family are very diverse. We did not start as a group of friends, Many of us didn’t know the others until our meet and greet so we have lots to learn about each other and our commitment to the Women’s Fund.
What are the qualities that make you good group co-captains? Julie and I have no expectations of each member. You can pay your money knowing it will be well used and never show up for anything except the vote, or you can get as involved as you want. We value each member for her unique perspective.
Anything else you would like us to know about Earth Angels? We are fun!
