On May 8, 2017 the Women’s Fund awarded grants to eight local nonprofits totaling $485,000 from funds collected from membership donations made during 2016. This was largest amount awarded solely from members’ donations since the founding of the Women’s Fund.
Supported by Women’s Fund grants, these remarkable organizations will establish onsite learning centers at two new low-income housing projects, expand K-3 classroom libraries, help prevent high school bullying, increase college readiness and acceptance rates for low-income students. They will also expand rapid mobile crisis weekend response for children experiencing a mental health emergency, expand parenting education for single mothers transitioning to jobs and permanent housing, provide a safe inviting play system for children fleeing domestic violence and provide facility improvements so a residential group home and drop-in center can obtain accreditation.
