This grant will pay for higher fencing, a new gate, and new, updated security systems that can be monitored by police and staff.
One in four women experience severe physical abuse at the hand of an intimate partner in their lifetime. Approximately half of the protective orders obtained by women against violent intimate partners are violated. Domestic Violence Solutions (DVS) provides safety, shelter, and support for individuals and families impacted by domestic violence.
To reduce the risk of security breaches and threats to the safety of survivors, DVS will upgrade security measures at their 25-bed emergency shelter and their 16-unit, long-term housing facility. Higher fencing, a new gate, and new security systems that include cameras and remote monitoring capability will be installed. The new security systems will be monitored by police and staff trained on updated security protocols.
