This grant will cover the salary and benefits of a new, full-time, front desk staff member and increased hours for two current clinic intake coordinators, one of whom is Spanish speaking.
Twenty-six percent of surveyed county residents reported having been diagnosed with depression, and 13% of the people surveyed reported suffering from a serious mental illness. In the 2023-24 fiscal year, New Beginnings (NBCC) experienced a 24% increase in clients. Currently, NBCC’s clients must wait a month to meet with a counselor. While the clinic is amply staffed by pre-licensed therapists in training, there is insufficient paid staff to handle the lengthy intake process.
To expedite client intake, NBCC will create a new, full-time staff position to assist with the front desk and oversee customer service. The hours for two clinic intake coordinators, one of whom is bilingual, will also be increased. The additional staff time will improve patient flow, reduce wait time to see a counselor, and enable the clinic to serve more clients.
