This grant will pay for a new, gas-powered truck base to tow shower trailers to south county sites where homeless individuals can attend to their hygiene needs.

Access to hygiene facilities is a major challenge for individuals experiencing homelessness in south Santa Barbara County. Showers of Blessing provides free, hot, private showers for unhoused people at five locations in south county. Through partnerships with 14 other nonprofits, they also offer access to a range of other support services.

Showers of Blessing has been relying on a used diesel truck to tow their shower trailers to sites each week. This truck needs frequent repairs and no longer complies with state emission regulations. To be able to maintain their weekly schedule without interruptions, Showers of Blessing will purchase a new, gas-powered truck base to replace their diesel truck. The current truck body will be fitted onto the new base in order to save money and to retain convenient storage compartments.
