Grant Description: Doctors Without Walls (DWW) has been providing open-air clinics one night per week in Alameda and Pershing Parks and in Isla Vista. Founded in 2005, DWW is the only street medicine clinic in the tri-county area. This grant provides a fully outfitted mobile clinic offering a wheelchair-accessible, secure and private area for examinations and wound care treatment. It will be stocked with common medications and supplies, including “women-specific” items. Expected community benefits include improved health for clients, fewer emergency room visits and reduced calls to the Fire Department. DWW has created a database and electronic medical records which aid the treatment and referral of patients and assists them in obtaining insurance coverage and accessing healthcare services.
