Vehicle or Social Worker Case Management

Funds replacement of an aging vehicle with a new hybrid SUV to transport foster children to medical appointments, court hearings, and family visitations.

When an infant or toddler is removed from their home in Santa Barbara County due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment, Angels Foster Care steps in to support foster families or extended relatives who take children in during this traumatic time. Serving as a link between foster children and the medical, legal, and familial systems that govern their lives, the agency’s goal is to provide stability and continuity of care.

Social workers for the private, nonprofit foster family agency travel 15,000 to 20,000 miles annually, conducting home visits and providing therapy as well as transporting children to medical appointments, court-mandated family visits, and court proceedings. The logistical and emotional support they provide foster families helps to keep fragile infants and toddlers in one foster home, minimizing multiple placements while the court determines a permanent placement for them.

This $60,000 grant will enable Angels Foster Care of Santa Barbara to replace their aging vehicle with a new hybrid SUV.
