Janis joined the Women’s Fund in 2017 following her retirement as the Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Tetra Tech, Inc. She joined the Board in 2026, and currently serves as Chair of the Governance Committee and a member of the Research Committee. Janis enjoys directly serving local non-profits through membership on the Boards of the Carpinteria Children’s Project and Prepare Kids for Life. She is also active with the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara and the Land Trust for Santa Barbara County, and recently served on the Boards of CALM and the Tribal Trust Foundation. Raised in the San Fernando Valley, Janis earned her B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of California, Los Angeles. She and her husband, Jim, live in Carpinteria with their three dogs.

As a member of the Women's Fund since 2018, Roberta currently serves as a Board member, is on the Governance Committee and is the Educational Events Committee Chair. She retired from a long career in public education that encompassed diverse roles in teaching, curriculum and administration at preschool through university levels in Northern California. She loves learning, has a rather nerdy background as a historian educated at UC Davis, and will happily engage anyone in conversation about how the past affects the future. Since moving to Santa Barbara in 2015, she and her husband Matt have been involved with several local not-for-profit agencies in their effort to add value to the community they dearly love.
