Alpha Resource Center of Santa Barbara serves lifelong support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in South Santa Barbara County. Each week, the adult day program has been providing approximately 80 trips into the community to do volunteer work at places like the Santa Barbara Zoo, the Botanic Garden, Ice in Paradise Ice Rink and Meals on Wheels, in addition to therapeutic fitness programs and an active teen recreation program.  Recently, several old vans had to be retired. 

This grant will purchase a new custom van, with an easy-to-operate lift, which can accommodate one wheelchair and three passengers. Alpha serves 89% low-income clients. Alpha believes integrating individuals with I/DD into off-campus activities benefits the community while making life more meaningful for their participants.
