This grant will pay for modular components required to construct a child-care facility at the family village.
Approximately 35 unsheltered south county families with children live in encampments, in cars, and on the street. Most local shelters are not equipped to provide the privacy, security, safety, and child care that families need.
DignityMoves is responding to this need by constructing a family village consisting of 25 small, multi-room, modular homes. The village will also include a garden, playground, and child-care center.
The grant will cover costs for the modular components of the child-care facility. The center will provide a safe, stable, nurturing environment for children, giving parents peace of mind as they pursue education and employment.
Families in the village will also receive wraparound services that address social, financial, medical, and mental health needs as they work to stabilize their families.
